What is Medically Supervised Weight Loss?
At Revital Dr. Labbad combines Intensive Dietary Modification (IDM) with a low carbohydrate approach with medications, when needed, to lead her patients to meet their weight and health goals.
Whether it's just getting to a healthier weight or taking control of health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, Dr. Labbad is able to help patients with her in-depth knowledge of body weight homeostasis and weight related diseases.
The doctor will develop an appropriate plan for each patient, and follow up throughout treatment. As a board certified obesity medicine physician, she is also able to help safely manage medical conditions related to weight as they change through the process.
You must meet the following criteria to qualify for the program:
18 years of age or older
Must not have any of the following conditions: liver or kidney disease, active ulcers or inflammatory bowel disease, bulimia, psychiatric disorders, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Before your first visit you will complete a comprehensive medical screening and weight questionnaire. The initial visit consists of a medical exam, clearance (EKG and labs) and a SECA body composition measurement. Based on this visit and the information collected Dr. Labbad will determine eligibility for program participation and establish your individual weight loss plan.
Weight Loss Stage
Consists of following an intensive dietary modification as determined by Dr. Labbad, with or without the use of medications to assist you. During this phase, participants will see the doctor 1 to 2 times a month and have SECA body composition measured once a month. Our program coordinator will also contact you 1 to 2 times a week to monitor your progress. Labs are repeated as necessary, typically once every 3 to 6 months, depending on your medical history and at the doctor's discretion.
Weight Maintenance Stage
The goal at this stage is to prevent weight regain through reinforcing the positive habits you learned in the program. Dr. Labbad will see you less frequently during this stage however, you are invited to participate in group sessions intended to help you stay accountable to the changes you have made to stay at a healthy weight.
The Initial visit is $279 and includes:
1 hour comprehensive consultation with Dr. Labbad
Labs drawn on site (HbA1c), complete cholesterol panel, complete metabolic profile (CMP), CBC, Thyroid Panel
SECA body composition measurement
The follow up visits are $119 and include:
30 minute consultation with Dr. Labbad
Once a month SECA Body composition measurement visit
1 to 2 week virtual check-ins with the program nurse
Group educational sessions on weight-related topics and healthy living
